Rare desk lamp designed by the architect, critic and writer Sigfried Giedion for BAG Turgi, Zurich, Switzerland.

Matte-finish crinkle enamelled metal shade and base with adjustable arm in nickel. Original paper label. Excellent condition, minor scuffs. Rewired, tested and tagged to Australian standards.

For collectors and architects: Giedion was a close associate of Walter Gropius and served as chair of the International Congress of Modern Architecture founded in 1928. While this lamp is not strictly a Bauhaus production, collectors may appreciate the stong association with leading designers and architects of the day.

Giedion taught at MIT and Harvard, where he became chairman of the graduate school of design. His famous treatis 'Space, Time and Architecture' strongly influenced the modern movement in the early 20th century.
