Oil on board. Sketch of a young girl, by Felice Lievens Bauwens. A lovely example of British art of the Interwar period, showing a free, spontaneous style and immense charm. The sitter is relaxed and self-contained.
Beautifully framed in high quality Rattan style timber and blue slip, by the fabulous Artemis Picture Framing, Malvern Road, South Yarra.
'Felice Lieven Bauwens trained at the Royal Academy Schools in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Her mother was also a painter, from the Slade, who had married a Belgian during the war. Felice exhibited with the New English Art Club, the R.B.A. and the Royal Academy up to the outbreak of the Second World War. Her work, largely unseen, typifies the interwar years', Sulis Fine Art.
