Warren McArthur Biltmore Armchairs, Australia c.1935

$1490 each

Two armchairs by Warren McArthur in the desirable 'Biltmore' style, originally designed for the Biltmore Hotel, Arizona USA in 1929.

These lightweight anodised aluminium chairs sport original timber-framed, coil-sprung loose cushions with original Spinach Green flock patterned upholstery. Perfectly comfortable, in very good original condition.

Cabinet de Luxe is offering in-house reupholstery of this pair for just $640. This includes new innersprung foam seat cushions, high density foam back cushions and piped cushion covers. Does not including price of fabric. See images of a similar McArthur chair reupholstered in Ivory vinyl with foam cushions.

Remarkable as is, magnificent once reuphostered. Take a look at this excellent example of McArthur's Biltmore style chairs, reworked with new high density foam cushions with curved corners, in Cinnamon leather - Cinnamon or Ivory work very well with the silver anodised frame. Note the price for the pair! Compare to our offering and contact Emma for information on upholstery or sale.

Condition Frame in very good original condition, at eighty years old there are scratches and nicks, some loss of anodised finish to front edges of sofa frame below cushions, has weathered dull in some areas at the back of the sofa but in the legs and arms and main shapes of the suite the overall anodised aluminium appearance is excellent, very clean and bright. Rubber 'hockey puck' feet aged and hardened but fuctional and firmly attached.
