Crepuscolo Bowl in the style of Galliano Ferro Italy 1960s
A bowl in the style of Galliano Ferro’s geode bowls. The glassblower has used the ‘crepuscolo’ (twilight) technique in which metal filaments or filings are included in the glass and create a smokey, hazy, shadowy effect.
Ferro and Toso used this effect in earlier work around the 1920s but I have not seen it after that period, so this is a speculative attribution based more on the shape of the bowl than anything else. A very interesting glass technique in a very attractively shaped bowl.
DIMENSIONS:
Depth 16 cm
Width 16.5 cm
Height 6.5 cm
CONDITION
Good condition. There are signs of professional repair to a chip in the base which has been smoothed off on a polishing wheel. Most people would not pick it out as it looks like a natural flaw of the manufacturing process. Some small scuffs and scratches to the interior and outside surface of the bowl. Overall very presentable.
