This original early ‘Eros’ table by Angelo Mangiarotti was produced by Gruppo Skipper from 1971. This specimen was purchased in 1979 at Artes Studio, Lane Cove, Sydney and moved with it’s owner for nearly 40 years.
It has been precision crafted in Grey Mondragone marble from the province of Caserta, Campania, Italy.
Mangiarotti’s brilliantly conceived ‘gravity joint’ consists of conical legs which intersect with the table top. The weight of the marble top locks the legs in place. This joint is also an integral part of the visual design, providing the characteristic puzzle pattern corners.
A thing of wonder for the serious collector. Originals are extremely hard to come by in Australia.

CONDITION:
Beautifully restored with mindful, minimal treatment. The top has been gently burnished satin-smooth, avoiding a hard mirror finish. There are no ‘glass marks’. Signs of age have not been completely erased - these include some scuffs to the legs, a scratch or two to the top - but they are very muted and barely noticeable. A professional grade penetrating colour enhancer and wax finish have been applied.
