Alessio Tasca Wall Plate, circa 1959

Alessio Tasca Wall Plate, circa 1959
An unusually large and lovely Tasca decorative plate designed for hanging. Rich colour and texture make a this a total charmer.
Dating to the late 1950s, it’s a product of his studio. It has been press-moulded and painted by hand. You’ll find a mould or model number on the back - ‘104’ - which indicates this was a production piece rather than an individually modelled piece.
However, as with all Tasca ceramics, it’s well above average in quality and design. Unlike the mass produced decorative ceramic works coming out of Italy at this time, this is a high quality ceramic work and unusually large.
The geometric pattern in the background presages Tasca’s purely geometric later works.
