Signed Blue and Green Copper Enamel Dish, Melbourne 1960s
Signed Blue and Green Copper Enamel Dish, Melbourne 1960s
A vitreous enamelled copper dish in vibrant metallic Blue, Aqua, Green and Gold. Dates from the 1960s or 1970s and is signed by the artist.
This matches a plate sold just before Christmas, signed by the same artist but these were found via separate sources. This appears to be a popular artist locally in Melbourne.
I’m very excited by this work - it’s exceptionally good compared to the run-of-the-mill enamels of this period and compares very well with the work of midcentury European enamelists such as Franco Bastianelli.
The signature is indistinct - Mabe, Mobe, Mole or Moler? If anyone has further information or recognises this work, please get in touch.
