Vintage Perforated Metal Lamp in the style of Guariche & Mategot c.1950
This sweet 1950s task light is in the style of French mid-century modern designers Mathieu Mategot and Pierre Guariche. It’s possibly from the ‘Firefly’ lighting series by Daydream Lighting (Australia) which employed perforated metal shades for a ‘sparkling’ lighting effect.
The clamp is chromed steel. The light has an almost 360 degree swivel. The ball joint is a brilliant design which doesn’t lose it's position and yet is completely adjustable. The mechanism is so simple that it can be tightened with a screwdriver if ever it does start to loosen.
DIMENSIONS:
Length 35 cm
Width 12 cm

CONDITION:
Rewired with traditional cloth-covered cord to Australian Standards. Tested and tagged. Original bakelite switch cleaned and polished - immaculate condition. Chrome swivel base and clamp polished. Signs of oxidisation - excellent overall condition. No rubber grips on the clamp. While firm and strong, best used on a horizontal surface such as a shelf. Does not hold on vertical surfaces.
BULBS:
Standard Bayonet Cap (B22). The lamp is pictured here with two different types of bulb - a low energy frosted globe and a traditional incandescent candle.
