Solid Brass Chairs in the style of Jean Royere, Sydney c.1950
Price per chair.
This set of four painted brass chairs share something of the simplicity and energetic expression of Gio Ponti’s work, while the lattice back and sweeping metal arms are reminiscent of Jean Royere’s 'Croisillon' series.
Amazingly, they are one-off items made by a Sydney engineer in the late 1950s for his patio, overlooking the waters of one of Sydney's many harbour inlets.
In order to prevent rust they were constructed from solid brass rod and angle, including brass screws.
We love the vibrant 1950s colour scheme of Mediterranean blue and white paintwork so much, we couldn't bring ourselves to strip them. However, any new owner has this option - the brass is in excellent patinated condition under the paint.
They have high density foam cushions and are covered in outdoor furnishing fabric from Warwick, designed for harsh Australian conditions - weatherproof and sun safe. Optional black plastic ball ends are available for the feet if floor protection is required. See images.
