Palwa Crystal Gilt Wall Sconce, Germany c.1960
Palwa Crystal Gilt Wall Sconce, Germany c.1960
Gold plated brass rings hold a variety of hand-cut crystals, refracting light and creating an exquisite impression. Like crystaline seafoam, the light appears to sit weightlessly on the wall. It has a lively and ephemeral appearance.
Palwa (Palme & Walter) is a German company, still making crystal chandeliers by hand, from scratch, today. This is craftsmanship of the highest order. For over 80 years the artists and craftsmen of PLAWA have been producing masterpieces in the craft of lighting.
This sconce has been attached to a board and wired to a cord and in-line switch to make it possible to use this in any room without having to hard wire it into the wall but can easily be demounted and hard-wired to the mains if this is what's called for in your project.
Note, in some images I've edited out the cord to show how the sconce will look if hard wired into household mains. No deception is intended.
All other images show the light fitting mounted on a black timber block that can be screwed to the wall or hung on two hooks.
DIMENSIONS:

Excellent, used briefly before being stored carefully for 40 years before we purchased it. Perfect working order. One tie for one small crystal has come loose but is very hard to spot and only mentioned to be completely accurate. The crystal is still securely attached.
