A large octagonal bevelled mirror with wide, tessellated pink marble veneered frame and inset brass strapping in a radial pattern, the frame bevelled to the outside edge and the glass also bevelled. The bevelled glass mirror is in excellent condition. 

The radiating brass strips in a ‘false perspective’ or ‘trompe-l’oil’ pattern give the mirror and frame a very attractive depth, as if standing out from the vertical plane of the wall when hung. 

A high-quality production, a Maitland-Smith brass plate is attached and a signed quality control sticker still in place, dated 5 May 1980.

102 cm H x 76.5 cm W x 6 cm Deep

CONDITION:

A few chips to the bottom edge of tiles at the back bottom of frame (not visible when hanging, see images). No loose pieces. Very few signs of age or use, just one shallow edge chip to the inside lip of the marble frame at the top of the mirror. See image. This does not detract but rather adds to the vintage status of the frame. See images for detail.
