I wonder about the influence of American Brutalist potters Peter Voulkos and Paul Soldner. I think the maker was probably the owner herself.
This piece comes from an extensive 1960s, 70s and 80s ceramics collection of an Ikebana enthusiast residing in Toorak. Several other earthenware pieces from the same collection are listed on site.
