Art Deco Wall Sconces in the manner of Jean Perzel, Melbourne, circa 1935
These lovely sconces are constructed in two parts. Their high quality indicates British manufacture, although it is possible they were made in Australia which had excellent metal work manufacturers at this time.
The bowls are spun brass with brushed nickel plating. The fins at the base are spun brass.
They have had minimal restoration, to retain patina but enhance usage. The brass fins retain a beautiful patina, while the brushed nickel bowls are in very good condition - a few marks here and there. Some losses to paint to the interior of bowl and backs of fins.
Rewired with double insulated wire. Tested and tagged electrically safe. They retain their original Australian Bakelite Bayonet bulb holders, however, the nature of the fittings allow very easy refitting with Edison bulb holders to suit US customers.
I’ve included an image of the original 1930s Art Deco home in Kew (Melbourne, Australia), from which they were removed.
