Signe Persson-Melin designed for Boda glass and later for the joint company Kosta Boda, Sweden, from the late 1960s to the early 2010s. Her design practice included professorial work at Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm as Sweden’s first Professor of Ceramics.

She was one of the founders of the Boda Nova company, which produced her designs for an extensive array of cutlery and tableware. ‘Boda Buffe’ was a range of cutlery made for easy entertaining, manufactured in Japan.

Persson-Melin is recognized as a key figure in mid century Swedish industrial design. Her work is characterised by classic Scandinavian simplicity and utility.

Her designs are deceptively simple, appearing light and breezy but achieved only through an expert understanding of materials, form and function.
