Large Bowl by Franco Bastianelli for Laurana Rame d'Arte Italy 1960s
Large Bowl by Franco Bastianelli for Laurana Rame d'Arte Italy 1960s
A magnificent handcut freeform bowl decorated in luscious vitreous enamel. Signed 'Laurana'. Faint outline of Laurana Rame d'Arte sticker remains.
Without doubt the largest and most handsome Bastianelli piece we have seen to date. It is in exceptionally good condition, including the original wool felt base pad.
The vitreous enamel is as bright and warm in colour as the day it was made. A magnificent example of the work of Franco Bastianelli and the expertise of the Laurana enamel workshop.
This was displayed as a wall hanging for its sculptural and decorative qualities, which suited it well. There is no hanging fixture attached, we disposed of an old spring style wall hanging bracket which was passed its best, so any new owner wishing to hang it should take measures to ensure the fixture does not damage or distort the bowl.
Better still, use it as was intended, as a superb decorative bowl displayed on a sideboard.

CONDITION
In superb condition. One compact and stable crack in the glaze (very common in copper enamel work) in the lighter central part of the red bottle and is pictured in the final image. Minor. Some very light scratching. Otherwise excellent.
