Vintage Maroon Found Object Sculptural Wall Hanging, Melbourne 1940s

Vintage Maroon Found Object Sculptural Wall Hanging, Melbourne 1940s

A$0.00

Unique, original and very aesthetically pleasing. This piece seems to stimulate communication with our primitive minds - it's arresting and absorbing, with totemic, sculptural, spirit/bird vibes, like some kind of mid century owl-deity.

Charles and Ray Eames would have loved this - they were connoisseurs of the artistic value of the found object. This is in fact a very old fibreglass rowing, crew or sculling seat, still attached to its original wooden glides and mounted for wall hanging.

It makes a beautiful and original decorative piece. The colour is rich, deep and warm with plenty of patina and character.

It's in clean condition, with a layer of wax to preserve the rich tone.

CONDITION

Good. As it has been used in a vigorous sport, the seat is worn and scratched but this just adds to the mood. See images. However, it's in clean condition, with a layer of wax to preserve the rich tone.
